IN WENDY'S OWN WORDS: "What seems like just a few short years ago, armed with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Design from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State), I was eager to start my post-college journey. I packed up my modest belongings and my larger-than-life passion for fashion, food and love, and headed to California to begin my first position as an assistant event planner for Macys Union Square in San Francisco!"
"Following an amazing experience with Macy’s and beautiful San Francisco, I relocated to St Louis to join an event marketing company, Momentum IMC.as a field marketing manager. My Momentum tenure proved to be invaluable, teaching me the finer points of large scale operations and logistics. My position in St. Louis was parlayed into a sponsorship and marketing managerial position with Kmart Corporation in Troy, Michigan, where I expanded my knowledge of sponsorship development and sales. After deciding to return to my Texas roots, I joined United Way of Metropolitan Dallas as manager of special events and sponsorships, responsible for more than 20 annual events."
"In 2005, the time was right to take a break from the job force to start a family. Two years and one gorgeous son later, I decided it was time to get back to work. But this time, on my own terms! With a yen to be in control of my own destiny, little money and lots of optimism, I opened Dorsey Group Weddings and Events, and my career as an independent event planner was launched! I became a Certified Wedding Consultant."
"Much as I love working with Brides and helping them to have the wedding they dreamed of, I became increasingly aware and concerned about the significant ecological impact of weddings. My interest in conservation at home grew, and my interest in "green" weddings followed. In answer to my new-found concerns and interests, Essential Sage was born! Since, then, I have enjoyed doing quite a few weddings and events. Not all of the events have involved significant efforts to reduce the event's carbon footprint, but every choice for sustainability is a positive step forward."
REBECCA'S BIO
Rebecca is the founder and CEO of Wedding iQ Network. She is an accountant by training and has logged about 20 years in accounting management, serving as Accounting Manager, Controller, and Business Manager at various times in her career. Rebecca brings to Wedding iQ years of business experience from business set-up and organization to contract review and negotiation. But, as much fun as the nuts and bolts of business are, Rebecca has longed for a creative outlet and decided to pursue a long-standing interest in wedding and event planning. Thus was born a natural partnership between Wendy Dorsey and Rebecca Waggoner. The two ladies worked together on many events and weddings over the last couple of years before starting Wedding iQ.
